A flowerpot, planter, planterette, or plant pot is a container used for growing and displaying flowers and other plants. They are composed of plain terracotta with no ceramic glaze and have a circular, tapering shape. This is still true to a large extent today. Today, flowerpots are frequently created from materials like plastic, metal, wood, stone, and occasionally biodegradable material. Heavy brown paper, cardboard, or peat moss pots used to cultivate young plants for transplanting are an example of biodegradable pots.
